Production

Producing approximately 15 million metric tons of crude steel a year, ThyssenKrupp Steel Europe is one of Europe’s leading flat steel producers.

The main production sites are located favorably in Duisburg directly on the Rhine.

ThyssenKrupp Steel Europe processes the greater part of the crude steel into hot-rolled coils. The Duisburg-Süd Heavy Plate Center produces around 1 million tons of plate per year on various production facilities. Specialties include N-A-XTRA® and XABO® water-quenched plates for highly stressed structures such as mobile cranes, and XAR® wear-resistant structural steels for construction machinery, which have been produced in Duisburg since the early 1960s.
