At the Duisburg-Süd heavy plate mill continuously cast slabs supplied from the steel plant are cut to specified sizes, heated to rolling temperature in a pusher furnace and rolled into four-high mill plates on a reversing mill.

This is followed by heat treatment, where necessary, and final conditioning.

In the two hot strip cut-to-length lines in Duisburg-Süd and Bochum, cut-to-length plate is cut from coils in thicknesses up to 15 mm and widths up to 2,000 mm.
